CHS Newsletter - December

Cashmere High School Monthly Newsletter - December ‘25

From the Principal's Office

As we move into the holiday season Gratitude is the feeling that defines our school community.  Students and staff shared Gratitude messages with each other going into Thanksgiving, a tradition that embodies what makes CHS special.  We are grateful for:

  • Coaches and Advisors of our Sports, Career & Technical Organizations, Clubs and Programs that build Families within our School Family, help students feel meaningfully connected, develop accountabilities in the classroom and grow essential life skills.

  • Our many community partners that provide students insight into the world of work, support our programs through donations, and mentor Bulldogs as they prepare for their Next Big Move.

  • A staff that goes the extra mile for students and each other.  The CHS experience is personal, and that’s largely because our staff, including our secretaries, teachers, coaches, custodians, maintenance and transportation, technology and administrators bring sincere care, an understanding of the rich tradition that defines our school, and a shared sense of purpose to work daily.

  • Families that collaborate with us to maintain high expectations, provide support and accountability, invest in our school programs and show up to support their children and all Bulldogs as the progress through their CHS experience. We value your input, we appreciate your partnership with us in the growth of your children, and love to see you celebrating Bulldogs when they thrive in the classroom, on the field of play, or as they engage with community partners.

From the Dean's Office

The Dean Perspective: Embracing Excellence

It is a true honor to serve as the Deans of Students in a school community where the expectations for behavior and academic excellence are not just clear, but are being met with overwhelming success by the vast majority of our student body. When we look out at our campus, we see hundreds of young people doing exactly what they need to do and having fun doing it: prioritizing their learning, showing respect in our halls, and actively engaging in making this a truly great place to go to school. This energy is exemplified by our students who consistently come up big— cheering each other to success, mentoring peers, leading service projects, and genuinely supporting one another to uplift the entire community. Our faculty and staff are proud to teach here, and that pride is earned daily by the character of our student body. In fact, our office sees only the same handful of students on a regular basis that are still learning to meet our high expectations. You are all valued members of this community, and we expect you to rise to the standard of excellence that your peers are setting every single day.  Let’s renew our commitment to high expectations for healthy choices, how we interact with each other and the community, and our shared investment in making Cashmere High School special.

From the School Counselors

Students — Hear from CHS Alumni Home for the Holidays!

Join us Wednesday, December 17, (lunch hour) for a panel discussion with recent CHS graduates. They’ll share practical tips advice on succeeding in college and life after high school. Bring your questions — this is a perfect opportunity to get first‑hand insights and prepare for your next steps.

Department/CTE Program Spotlight

The Business and Marketing Department is bustling with activity!  Mr. Kert’s 9th grade Computer Coding classes participated in some activities for Computer Science Education Week (Dec 1-5).  Students have been creating code and having fun along the way- even creating animated knock knock jokes!  Coding students also participated in the free Hour of Code where they can continue coding long after their course ends!  Personal Finance students are learning what it takes to be financially savvy in today’s market.  New to CHS’s CTE Team this year is Mr. Eygabroad.  Mr. Eygabroad’s Intro to Marketing and Advanced Marketing classes have been actively involved in running the school store, Mr. G’s, during passing time and the end of lunch each day.  Students are involved with keeping inventory, restocking and using a point of sale system to run an effective retail business.  Business and Marketing students wishing to expand their involvement in CTE have been working hard in FBLA and DECA.  FBLA members are working on their competitive business projects while DECA students are preparing for the Area 10 competition with an intense test in their respective events on December 8th.  Good luck competitors!

And, as always, in all CTE departments (Agriculture, Business and Marketing, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences and Skilled and Technical Trades) employability matters!  All CTE staff are working diligently to provide learning experiences and environment that prepares students to be successful in their future workplaces and careers.  “We teach the skills that pay the bills!”  If you have any questions or would like to become more involved in Career and Technical Education at Cashmere High School, please contact Rebecca Swanson, CTE Director.

CTE Health Sciences Curriculum Review:

The Health Sciences CTE Department is growing!  We've added Medical Terminology and starting second semester will be offering Introduction to Health Occupations.  If you are interested in reviewing Medical Terminology and/or Introduction Health Occupations curriculum, please contact Rebecca Swanson ASAP.

Students Spotlight

Riley Acheson - Junior Riley Acheson was elected as one of two Student Representatives to the State Board of Education this year.  She has met with our Student Leadership Team and with two large groups of upper and lower classmen to ask questions about what our students value in learning experiences and what the state is considering as initiatives.  One focus of discussion was interest and need for Financial Literacy, and its potential as a graduation requirement.  She continues to connect with student leaders from around the region. We are proud of Riley’s commitment to eliciting student voice and serving as a liaison between the Board of Education and our region's students.

From the School Nurse

This year we are asking you to complete our student health form via Google Forms.  We hope this makes it easier for you to communicate your student’s medical needs in a timely manner.  Find the link HERE:  Please complete this form in September so that we can best support your student.  We want to be able to support your student’s health here at school.  We have received less than 20% of the forms back.  Please make this a priority for the health of your student.  Thanks!
