Cashmere High School Monthly Newsletter - January ‘26
From the Principal's Office - In the coming months I will share with you compelling reasons why students should learn and participate in the CHS experience for the high school education. We are better together!
Why Learn at CHS?
Comprehensive Preparation: We provide a traditional high school experience that successfully launches students into the workforce, military, technical schools, and four-year universities.
College & Career Edge: Students gain a head start through diverse College in the High School courses (partnered with UW, CWU, EWU, and WVC) and CTE programs that offer industry credentials and internships.
Strong Community Identity: As the heart of Cashmere, we foster deep school pride through, vibrant spirit weeks, community parades, and a supportive network of local alumni. Our facilities and grounds are well maintained to support learning.
Personalized Learning: Our small school size ensures every student is known. Dedicated staff provide rigorous instruction that consistently prepares graduates for their "Next Big Move."
Active Student Life: By staying on campus, students fully participate in the clubs, programs and school events that form the foundation of lifelong memories.
Proven Results: Feedback from alumni and state assessments confirm that a CHS diploma provides a competitive, well-rounded foundation that supports success beyond high school.
Upcoming Events:
March 11th: Future Freshman Night
March 18th: College in the High School Night.
April: Registration week for the coming year.
From the Dean's Office
Safety continues to be a priority this year, and with the turn in weather it’s critical that students take extra care driving and walking in the parking lot and in the community. We are grateful for the support of two community members Tom Day and Stan Radoslovich for their investment in CHS safety and relationship building with our student body. Tom and Stan have volunteered their time for the past two years supervising our parking lot before and after lunchtime, and checking on exterior security in our building.
Tom and Stan focus their energies on being a positive presence on our campus during the lunch hour, and invest in building relationships with students as they walk the parking lot daily.
Their presence is not only an added reassurance and sets of eyes on our campus, but also they have become a meaningful part of our school community. They are looking to recruit more members of their team, and we value their investment in our school community. If you are interested in joining their team, contact Principal MacKenzie at cmackenzie@cashmere.wednet.edu

Department/CTE Program Spotlight
Life in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department is back to busy, busy, busy after break. Students in Early Childhood Education (ECE) are continuing their weekly practicum at Vale Elementary School where they work in various classrooms. Students assist in the teaching and learning by working with small groups, helping with teacher prep work and building positive relationships with students and staff. In their high school classroom, they are diligently learning what it takes to prepare and build effective lessons for preschool aged students. Their culminating activity will be teaching a lesson they’ve designed to a group of their peers. Students enrolled in ECE also qualify for up to 7 college credits through Wenatchee Valley College at the end of the semester. Way to go ECE Bulldogs!
Meanwhile, in Personal Choices, students have been getting a taste of “adulting” all semester. They’ve participated in a real-life simulation (named Swansonville, after their teacher, Mrs. Swanson), complete with resumes, interviews, paychecks, rent and roommates and paying bills. They’ve completed a sewing project and are currently learning nutrition and basic culinary skills to round out their semester. Since returning to school, students have been learning proper knife safety and are becoming better versed in their knife skills and cuts. They’ll complete this week with a stir fry dish- a highly nutritious meal with lean protein, a variety of vegetables and homemade sauce. If you currently have a student in Personal Choices, be sure to encourage them to cook for you at home (and wash the dishes, of course!).
As always, in all CTE departments (Agriculture, Business and Marketing, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Sciences and Skilled and Technical Trades) employability matters! All CTE staff are working diligently to provide learning experiences and environments that prepares students to be successful in their future workplaces and careers. “We teach the skills that pay the bills!” If you have any questions or would like to become more involved in Career and Technical Education at Cashmere High School, please contact Rebecca Swanson, CTE Director.

Student Spotlight - Saeb Hocking - Marketing Intern - Wenatchee Wild
Saeb, a senior at CHS, built on her experience in Marketing and competing at DECA Nationals last year through an internship with local professional hockey team the Wenatchee Wild. “I typically help the Wild booster club, where I sell 50/50 raffle tickets and merchandise for the players education fund, or I act as Walt's 'handler' responsible for keeping the mascots on schedule, safe and comfortable, and communicating with the event security team or office staff when necessary. I started this internship because I believe it will aid me in my career path. I hope to go into sports marketing or broadcasting. The work I've been doing with the Wild has given me a unique perspective and new-found appreciation for the operations that take place behind the scenes to make game nights possible.”
